The Late Show got a little more pointed than some CBS executives probably wanted last night with Aziz Ansari as a guest on Stephen Colbert’s program.
Just after introducing Ansari, Colbert mentioned how both men were originally from South Carolina. But that is where the similarities end.
Ansari took no time to turn to cutting humor while referencing how Colbert is “the bagillith white guy” hosting a late night talk show.

Exclusively Kristen: A Clothing Company Finally Geared Towards The Big Busted Woman

This year has been all about loving yourself and acceptance for all body types, but when it comes to women’s clothing things are a bit different.
Not all women are created equally is fashion. And the main woman who isn’t included is the busty woman.
Kristen Allen understood the struggle and decided to do something about it by opening her own online store.
It is called Exclusively Kristen: Clothes for “Busty” Women.
In an interview with RISE NEWS, Allen said ever since she was a teenager she’s had the issue of finding tops that fit properly because of her cup size.
She explained that the idea to start a business of this sort has always been in the back of her mind but there was always had school or work standing in the way.
Allen said that this is something she never thought she could do, but when she moved to New York she was inspired by everyone’s grind because everyone seemed to have a side hustle there.
She also said after doing research with many resources at her disposal she realized that she was still young so why not take the risk?
Exclusively Kristen has been a business for almost two years, launching in 2014.
Allen said that starting her company has been rewarding since she is solving a real problem that many women face.
“There are few companies in the United States catering to the busty woman,” Allen said. “And I’m the only one that has a variety of things to choose from.”
She said that with her business she wanted to start out with some basic pieces with a range of appeal without being too trendy.
“So this is just a product of me being the target audience, but my body type isn’t the same as everybody else’s,” Allen said. “I wanted everyone to pretty much try it out and then give me feedback. Now that I’ve gotten enough feedback from customers now I starting to do more adventurous pieces.”
she wants her customers to know that they do have options and they don’t have to settle for oversized sweaters just to fit their bust.
“I want them to know that we’re here to solve a problem and we’re here to help women look good and feel comforted in the clothes that they’re wearing, that the clothes will be tailored to them, to their bodies,” Allen said.

Allen’s products range from $25 to $100 and they’re all made in the United States.
Allen is involved in every aspect of the creative process. She said she draws a rough draft of the designs and then has someone make the technical sketches.
She is also the fit model and does all of the fittings and does quality control on each garment.
After her approval, the clothes go to the manufacturer.
Allen said she wants other women to be inspired to own a small business.
Allen explained that she is proud of what the company has accomplished so far.
Allen has future aspirations that involve more products on the website, a petite line and a plus sized line.
Her long term goal is to open stores in different states catering to women with D-plus cups.

Millennial Travel Guide: A Day Trip To Ireland’s Majestic Cliffs Of Moher
This semester I am fortunate enough to be studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland at University College Dublin.
While very different than my home university back in Massachusetts, Dublin quickly stole my heart and I am loving being across the pond.
There are many perks of studying abroad, but one of the best has to be the opportunity to take travel to places I’ve only seen in pictures.
This past weekend’s day trip- the Cliffs of Moher!
Rising 700 feet above the Atlantic and stretching just under five miles along Ireland’s western coast, the Cliffs of Moher offer some of nature’s more spectacular views.
Getting within a foot of these dropoffs is not for the faint of heart, but my friend and I made the journey west from Dublin to spend the day marvelling at one of the most beautiful places Ireland has to offer.
Finally after a 4-hour bus ride filled with traditional Irish music and Irish fun facts, we made it to the Cliffs along with 300 other people all wanting to see what the hype is about.
One thing to note, I didn’t choose to study abroad in Ireland for the weather.
Usually around 50 degrees with a constant damp breeze, Ireland’s infamous weather is nothing desireable.
However, this past weekend it was all sun.
Throughout our day travelling to and from the Cliffs my friend and I repeatedly said how lucky we were to have such a good day.
Luck of the Irish is obviously a real thing.
This was my second time to the Cliffs since January, but I could go ten more times and still be blown away.
Regardless of how many people are there, the expansiveness makes you feel like you’re there alone.
Sitting in the grass on the side of the cliff (a safe distance because I don’t have a death wish of course), soaking in much needed vitamin D and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is a feeling I’ll never forget.

The Cliffs of Moher are truly one of the natural wonders of the world and being able to experience such beauty is something I hope everyone can get the chance to experience.
After a classic fish n’ chips lunch is a nearby town, my friend and I hopped back on the bus and made our way back to Dublin.
We stopped in a little town called Kinvara and looked at the iconic Connolly’s Bar.
Travelling coast to coast in one day is something I’m not used to being from the United States, but seeing the Emerald Isle in all its sunny glory last weekend was truly a day trip for the books.
To anyone questioning whether or not to study abroad, take the chance and DO IT!
A day trip to the Cliffs of Moher could be in your future, too.

Why We Shouldn’t Fear A China Hegemony

“China owns us.”
We’ve been hearing it our entire lives. For as long as we’ve been alive, it’s been a constant worry that at some point China will ask us to pay our debt. It’s the Millennial equivalent to Baby Boomer’s hiding under their desks.
Given that comparison, it’s obvious that we should fear the rise of the (once) sleeping dragon. To do so, however, is to ignore one very important factor: history. For much of human history, China has been one of the – if not, the – most powerful countries in the world. Until modern times, China was always the richest and most populous country in the world (some things never change). From 1405 to 1433, the Ming Dynasty under the Yongle Emperor financed a navy for exploration and maritime dominance that the world had never seen.
Almost one-hundred years before Columbus set foot in America, China circled the [known] world to show its muscle. If the next emperor hadn’t burned the fleet to the ground and ceased the expeditions – we might all be speaking Chinese.
But, that’s all history. How should we feel about China now? Should we fear the “rise” of today’s China?
The short answer: no.
If the world still operated as it did before American hegemony, than I would say a hard yes. Before American hegemony, any country that could amass a military to rival your own would be worthy of fear. However, American hegemony is different from other nations that came before it. It has a self-destruct button. Now, I’m not saying that one-day America is going pull a Voltorb and blow itself up. Rather, I am saying that American hegemony has an expiration date built in.
Hear me out.
American hegemony’s ultimate goal is to spread the American way of life around the world. Picture in your mind what the “American way of life” is for a moment. To me, the beauty of America is that everyone reading this pictured something different from everyone else that reads it. No two Americans are exactly the same because our nation was founded on the ideals that no two people are exactly the same – and that’s okay.
Actually, that’s our strength.
American hegemony is unique from all our counterparts throughout history because – though we may not have the noblest of reasons – some of our influence has helped different nations around the world.
America is unparalleled in power. If we had not wanted nations like North Korea, Cuba or Iran (pre-lifting of sanctions) to rise, we would’ve stopped them. We have established a world order where our hands are in everyone’s cookie jar and, for the world to operate, the octopus must function properly.
But just as the American octopus has its tentacles in everything, the Chinese dragon has coiled around all the jars. And, we can either look at the dragon as an adversary or we can say “thank you” for the help. Would Atlas have feared assistance when holding up the world?
Let’s go back to that self-destruct button. Under American hegemony, the seeds from global governance have been laid. In the long run, a global government can never exist when there is a sole hegemon. If that is the case, then the global government is simply a proxy for the bidding of the hegemon (cough UN cough). However, in a multi-polar world (re: a balanced world), a global government can occur. We even created a new form of communication (re: the internet) to facilitate global understanding.
In the next several centuries, nations will watch as our languages, cultures and people merge together. The world will become a melting pot (America’s end game). At some point in the future, all humans will speak the same language because of the Internet and globalization. Don’t believe me? Are you correcting me in Latin from behind your screen?
In 6,000 years of recorded history, the human race has achieved amazing things. But, to achieve the next level of evolution, no one person, city, state or country has ever been able to do it alone. Caesar needed his triumvirate. Zheng-Du needed the Yongle Emperor. America needed the French at Yorktown.
As millennials, we cannot think like our parents and the generations before us. We have grown up with access to technology and knowledge that people could never have dreamt. Because of this, we have a duty to the world to change how it interacts.
I’m sure there was several times throughout this that you laughed to yourself and called me insane. But, isn’t a key component of insanity to do the same thing over and over again and expect the same result?
So, why would you fear China when you already know it doesn’t work? That’s worse than insane – it’s inefficient.
And that’s something to fear.
