Jonathan Aledda, the on duty North Miami police officer who shot an African-American behavioral therapist, who was tending to his autistic patient, has been arrested and charged with a felony count of attempted manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge.
Aledda is the first ever on duty cop that State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle has charged for shooting someone according to The Miami Herald.
The Miami-Dade police union came out strongly against the decision to charge Aledda.
“In this case, we’re going to be able to show how politically motivated, vindictive and incompetent that the state attorney is” Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera told the Herald. “The law is a very simple thing – intent. They’re never going to be able to prove that this guy acted maliciously or recklessly in any way.”

Miami Heat Announce That They Will Retire Shaquille O’Neal’s Number At The AAA
In a tweet, the Miami Heat announced that they would retiring the jersey number of Shaquille O’Neal at the start of next season.
O’Neal played for the Heat from 2004 to 2008 and won a championship with the team in 2006.
During O’Neal’s career in South Florida, Miami won three-straight division titles, and played in two Eastern Conference championships.
O’Neal wore number 32 during his time with the Heat.
“Shaquille O’Neal is one of the truly elite players in the history of the game and one of the greatest players to ever wear a HEAT uniform,” Heat President Pat Riley said in a press release. “He took us to another level as a basketball franchise while leading us to our first NBA championship. Retiring his number in the rafters, along with HEAT greats Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway, is something we are very proud of.”
O’Neal still holds the record as Miami’s all-time leader in field goal percentage (.596) according to the press release.

Small Plane Crashes In Broward County, Florida
A small plane- identified as a Piper Navajo crashed landed just after noon EST in west Broward County, Florida.
WSVN TV is reporting that there were two to three people aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash and that the pilot was being airlifted to an area hospital.
According to the Miami Herald the plane crashed in a swampy area near U.S. 27.
The crash site is roughly 30 minutes north of Miami.

This Politician Dressed Up Like Donald Trump At An AIDS Walk To Make An Important Point
North Miami City Councilman Scott Galvin is known for his unique approach to serving his constituents.
An early adopter of email newsletters and blogging to keep people that live in his city informed, Galvin has recently started producing web videos for the same purpose.
But none of that quite compares to what Galvin did to support the Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival.
Galvin is not afraid to take a stand on issues that are a bit bigger than North Miami, a diverse northern Miami suburb with nearly 60,000 residents.
So he decided to make fun of Republican Presidential front-runner Donald Trump to raise money for the AIDS walk.
Galvin dressed as “The Donald” and walked around the event carrying fake money with Trump’s face on it.
“I’ve been wearing silly costumes in the Walk since 2009, when I was a leprechaun,” Galvin said in an interview with RISE NEWS. “I always try to do something unique, as it’s a big point in my fundraising efforts. This year, I truly didn’t have an original idea. And then I saw a recent Republican debate. My costume immediately became clear.”
Galvin has been involved with AIDS walks for years and has been walking in them since 2007.
While most people at the walk understand that Galvin was making fun of Trump and his arrogant manor (he was also saying one-lines as he walked around like “I’m building a wall around YOUR house”), some people didn’t get the joke.
“A few were unsure, however, and wondered if I was supporting Trump,” Galvin said. “A few wouldn’t even take my fake money and just gave me disgusted looks.”
While it was all in good fun, Galvin said that he really does believe that Trump poses a threat to the LGBT community.
“An affront to any minority community is an affront to us all,” Galvin said. “If we sit silently as Trump insults Mexicans and Muslims, who will be around to defend us when it is our turn?”
Galvin’s efforts seemed to have paid off as he was able to raise around $8,000 for the walk.
“Trump’s campaign is as much a hot mess as I was walking in the sun wearing a clown wig and orange make up,” Galvin said. “At least I was able to turn his idiocy into a few laughs for a good cause.”
