Strong Earthquake Hits Off The Coast Of Chile, Tsunami Advisory For Hawaii

A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Chile in the Pacific Ocean earlier today.
According to CBS News, there is also a tsunami alert for the whole of Chile’s coast.
Hawaii is not expected to be impacted by a strong tsunami but the entire state is currently under a tsunami advisory.
According to the National Weather Service, the earthquake was a magnitude 8.3.

“Based on all available data, a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter,” Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a statement.”
While the threat is not expected to seriously impact Hawaii, other Pacific islands could be in more danger.
ElSalvador.com is reporting flood waters reaching a main roadway in the coastal city of Concon in Chile.

A video posted on Youtube also seems to show similar flooding issues in Concon.
Hawaiian News Now reports that the earliest that a tsunami could impact Hawaii is 3:11 AM HST.
