Video Of Hurricane Irma’s Damage To Saint Martin Shows The Strength Of The Storm

Hurricane Irma is not a storm to mess with.

Here’s video of the damage brought to the island of Saint Martin in the Caribbean.

While Irma is not expected to remain as a Category 5 hurricane during its close approach to South Florida, forecasts project it to remain a very strong Category 4.

A Pretty Active Hurricane Season Is Expected This Year

According to the National Hurricane Center, the Atlantic Basin should expect an “above normal” hurricane season with 11 to 17 named storms.

“The outlook reflects our expectation of a weak or non-existent El Nino, near- or above-average sea-surface temperatures across the tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, and average or weaker-than-average vertical wind shear in that same region,” Gerry Bell, the lead hurricane forecaster with the Climate Prediction Center said in a release.
